Alli - Weight Loss PDA approved pill- product details:

Alli by GlaxoSmithKline is a OTC drug designed to treat obesity. Its primary function is preventing the absorption of fats from your daily diet so reducing caloric intake. It is intended for use in conjunction with a supervised reduced-calorie diet.

Alli contains Orlistat, a saturated derivative of lipstatin, potent natural inhibitor of pancreatic lipases.

How Alli works

Alli works by inhibiting pancreatic lipase, an enzyme that breaks down triglycerides in the intestine. Without this enzyme, triglycerides from the diet are prevented from being absorbed and are excreted undigested.

At the standard prescription dose of 120 mg three times/day before meals, Alli prevents approximately 30% of dietary fat from being absorbed. Higher doses of Alli do not produce more potent effects.

Alli History

On January 23, 2006, a U.S. Food and Drug Administration advisory panel voted 11 to 3 to recommend the approval of an OTC formulation of orlistat, to be marketed under the name Alli by GlaxoSmithKline and as February 7, 2007 Alli became the first weight loss drug officially approved by the U.S. government for over-the-counter use.

Alli - Weight Loss PDA approved pill review rating 2 out of 5 Not worth it

I've been on it for about a week. I can handle the side effects of a orange stool and leakage but I can't handle the back pain. I'm getting off the stuff.
