Exfoliation therapy for skin rejuvenation

found in Treatments beauty articles

A key procedure in skin rejuvenation is exfoliation. When the exterior dermal layers are periodically exfoliated, the skin is stimulated to rejuvenate in other words to complete its function cycle. Exfoliation determines another important dermal process, moisturizing which preserves body's own emollients and decreases aging. Some specialists recommend programs that include sun block products, microepidermabrasion therapy, AHA peels and Retin-A.

Exfoliation therapy & sun protection

Some protection is vital against the damaging influence of the UVA and UVB rays, while dermabrasion is a basic condition for skin regeneration. AHA, alpha hydroxyl acids are the wonder of the skin science.

Recently developed, AHA are acids derived from fruits with increased exfoliating properties. Glycolic acids, topical Vitamin C (citric acid) and lactic acid, top 3 AHAs, can induce if correctly used satisfactory moisturising and thickening of the skin which leads to less wrinkles. AHAs also prevent abnormal pigmentation appearance.

Choosing the right exfoliant products

Although the rejuvenation medical market doesn't lack unauthorized active substances specialists advise patients not to forget that the only medically proven ingredients are AHAs and Retin-A. The latter, for instance, was clinically declared able to prevent collagen deterioration by UVA and UVB sun rays. Yet products like Retin-A or Renova TM are considered by many patients drying and uncomfortable. They were reported to cause irritation and damaging to other skin properties.
