You can help your ankle get back to their original state when are swollen by applying ice cubes in a plastic bag secure sealed and covered with a towel or use a ice pack or a bag of frozen veggies and hold them for 5 to 10 minutes over your ankles.

In the summer time you can deep your legs into a bath of ice water.
Make sure you don't have poor circulation or diabetes. In this case you have to ask your physician if you can do the ice bath without any danger to your health.
